Wild fire

It is not that we hide from the small, cold things at the heart of us, but from the raging heat of a wild self that loves this world without apology & how do you live like that without setting your whole life on fire?

Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.

Three doves

Friday Five - this and that...

Good morning,

it's friday again and time to join with Tanya's Willy Nilly Friday Five
Amy's Five on Friday , Suzy Mae's Soulfood Friday
and Cath's Fun Friday Favorites

On monday we've celebrated Tu B'schevat.
No calendar, no tradition commands us to celebrate this, but I really appreciate
those small private celebrations in everydays life. Only for us both...
Here is my blog post about it..

Our snow is gone away, the sun has licked it...
On one hand I am happy because life is lighter again by riding bicycle,
on the other hand I miss it a little because it made everything so beautiful.
Bright white rather boring gray. Hope it comes again a little, not to much.

Right outside my window are last year's rose hips.
They are shriveled, but I enjoy them anyway.
Such pretty splash of color ...

I made some photo-experiments with a silver plate and feathers. For a Polish Photochallenge.
I like challenges and have to many to participiate, sigh!
But I need always some creative thing to overcome the everyday life.

An old sad Russian song by Jurij Morfessi - Мы только знакомы - We are only known.

A song from 1940 and the videoclip is from a TV-Show of this time.
It is so cute and funny, I really like this!

Reminds me of childhood, as all people in our country had only black&white TV.
My parents never had a TV, but I often went to the neighbors and looked there
at children's programs in a similar style.

Have a nice weekend all :-)

Imagining world

In my dream, the angel shrugged & said, If we fail this time, it will be a failure of imagination & then she placed the world gently in the palm of my hand.

Regular life

Of course I want to save the world, she said,
but I was hoping to do it from the comfort of my regular life.

Today she decided to be suitably ambiguous,
so you can think whatever you’d like about her.

Русская азбука в песнях - Russian ABC in songs

The third letter is В
- it looks like our "B", but it is "W" in Russian -

Now it will be difficult: the Russians don't know the letter C.
And: the Latin alphabet has 26 letters,  the Russian alphabet has 30 letters
and two especially signs for hard or soft pronunciation.
Beginning today, I will take always the letter, what is on the place of the Latin ABC.

W (в) is for валенки (walenki) - traditional felt boots

Here you can see pictures of them.

I've chosen the traditional song "Bаленки".
Sings the legendary Russian folksinger Lidija Ruslanova.

(She sang this song on April 2 in year1945, in front of the Reichstag in Berlin)

Posted for Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday

PS: one visitor has corrected me:  there is a letter analogous to "C".
That is "Ц" and it stand at the  end of alphabet. For me Russian is a foreign language, I know this letter, but I had not thought, that is analogue to our "C".

Tu B'schevat - New Year of trees

Tu B'Shevat - New Year for Trees
We haven't tradition, we celebrate
it on our own way
Tu B'schevat - a stop in everyday life
Pay attention to nature
and thankfulness
Old chestnut tree my friend since childhood
thawed snow, somewhere still
icy road
The tree greeted with hugs
Listened to its silent
So soon will be awakening
flowers and leaves
cooling shade
brilliant autumn fruits
May no freezing frost no storm
it impose too much

Small lights lit - the celebration
begins with the darkness
The silence enjoyed in waiting
and some tentative bird songs
Come home in the dark to the banquet
of fruit trees
Books looked at and over trees
The silence of the meadows
preserve for a long time
that could be a

Tu B'schevat - Neujahr der Bäume
Wir haben keine Tradition wir gestalten
Feiertage auf ganz eigene Art
Tu B'schevat - innehalten im Alltag
Aufmerksamkeit schenken der Natur
Alte Kastanie, Baumfreundin seit Kindheit
getauter Schnee, manchmal noch
eisglatter Weg
Den Baum begrüszt mit Umarmung
Zugehört seinem
So bald schon Erwachen
Blüten und Blätter
kühlender Schatten
glänzende Früchte im Herbst
Möge bis dahin
kein klirrender Frost kein Sturm
ihm zusetzen zu sehr

Kleine Lichter entzündet - das Fest
beginnt mit der Dunkelheit
Die Stille genossen im Warten
und manch zaghaftes
Heimgekommen im Dunkeln zum Mahl
aus Früchten von Bäumen
Bücher angeschaut über Bäume
Die Stille der Wiesen sich lange
so könnte ein Segen sein

Steam engine

This steam engine and the building in the background are the last piece of the old sawmill.
Earlier the engine was in the basement of a big hall.
I was often down there and saw it, quite rusted.
Now they have brought it up and repainted, as a technical monument.
